Big Steps

We are anticipating some soon-to-come big steps for both boys.  Henry will be ditching his bottles soon and moving on to whole milk.  Awesome because formula is expensive but slightly annoying because we will have to buy 2 different gallons of milk weekly; Cole recently transitioned from full of fat milk to 1% milk...of course the timing doesn't work out. For Cole, we still have to make the move to the big boy bed and we just started to step up the potty training. He likes to sit on the potty before his bath every night but only for about 1.2 seconds. So we recently started giving him a M&M as an award for sitting longer.  I'm not sure if it will work, but I do wish I received the same award; although I would be about 400 pounds. I'm afraid all he will want to do is sit on the pot and eat treats. Yikes, will this encourage eating on the toilet? That is gross. We may have to rethink this plan.

Sitting nicely on the potty. Aren't you glad pics of you on the toilet don't get posted online?

Guess where we keep the candy. Yep, up there.

We also have to start working on Cole ditching his nuks. This will not be easy. He loves them. It will be hard because they work so well in calming him down when he is upset. Just the other day he was throwing a fit because he wanted to get back in the tub (with no water left). After a fair amount of screaming I shoved a nuk in his mouth and all was well. How long can a kid have nuks before it is embarrassing? I guess it doesn't matter because his teeth are starting to get jacked, so he needs to lose the nuk habit soon.

Henry continues to be a daredevil and the complete opposite of Cole at this age. He has multiple nicknames but the most appropriate as of late is Henace the Menace.  Hard to believe he has his first birthday coming up in a few weeks. He has started to clap (maybe a little late on that milestone!), will stand alone for a few seconds and loves to mimic.

  1. I can't wait to switch to milk! Maybe you could still buy whole milk and mix Cole's with some water? I don't know if that works or not, but you are lucky he is still drinking milk. Ellie gave it up a long time ago. I think she had a sour cup or something. Cole and Henry are so cute. Your family photos were adorable too!
