An Amazing Easter

Twas quite the Easter. I guess it is an appropriate day for a miracle. I don't know what got into the boys, but they have never behaved so well. All day long, there was no cryin' or whinin'. No fussin' or fightin'. Nothing, and we skipped nap/quiet time. Truly amazing.

The kids declared this past Easter Sunday, "the best day ever." They haven't been around for very long so maybe it's even true. We started off with an egg and basket hunt in the morning. We filled the eggs with chocolate coins and real coins. Hopefully they won't mix them up. We also gave them some other treats, a Gatorade, watering can (we hope to have a garden at the new house) and they each got a toy vehicle. Candy for breakfast, that does sound like the start of the best day ever.

Then we stopped by Grandma's and Bampa's and dyed some Easter eggs. That was followed by a Venice Club buffet with some of my family. We planned to try and not eat too much since we were heading back to Kristin's parents' house for dinner, but that, of course, did not happen.

After the buffet, the kids got to hunt for more eggs at Grandma's and Bampa's. Uncle Ben and the grandparents hid 65 eggs for the boys to find. Not a bad Easter. Did I mention the boys were well behaved?

Harmonica music on repeat around here now

Bampa's yard looks terrible in this picture, in real life it looked better

Our pictures look terrible because we experimented with the photo option on our video camera. Bad idea.

I've never played hockey, but I'm pretty sure that's not how you hold it.

Much better.

Definitely not the right grip.

Look at that stick speed.

A week later the boys are still talking about how Easter was the "best day ever" and Cole requested an egg hunt for his Birthday in November. A good time was definitely had by all!

Funny story and recent pics

As the parents, we of course think that everything the boys say is hilarious, so sorry if this is not at all amusing. Anyway, Cole was having one of his girlfriends over (yeah, multiple just like his Dad) and the first thing he said was, "Before you got here I went poop, but don't worry, I washed my hands." One of the better, more upfront pick-up lines I have ever heard.

A nice evening means early bath and a neighborhood walk in jammies and rain boots

This particular walk was cut short by a Cole poop emergency. I had to pick him up and run, while trying not to bounce him around too much (didn't want to jostle a poop out).

At the Zoo for breakfast and to meet the Easter Bunny.

This accurately shows the level of fun we had at the Easter Bunny breakfast

Henry got scared and I had to hold him, but Cole loved the merry-go-round. It was merry. Very.

Nice work Cole. Oh wait! That's your cousin!

Some rooms at the new house have perfect hardwoods under the carpet - no such luck in this one. On the plus side this means we will be refinishing them all and picking a new stain color that isn't so orange.

Reading time at Barnes & Noble.

Official Weigh-in

The other night before bed, I had the boys step up on the scale. Cole is a skeleton and Henry is not so we have been waiting to see if, or more likely when, Henry will pass up Cole in the weight department. Well, it hasn't happened yet. This is wearing footie pajama weight, but Cole is 35.5 pounds and Henry is 32.5 pounds. It's getting close. We'll have to do this again in a few months.

Henry working hard to turn that pudge into muscle

I guess since we are talking about weight, I will include some recent eating pictures I took. Below is Cole's favorite sandwich: bread; ketchup; mustard; cheese; pickles; and pepperoni. I can't imagine that is very good.

Sweet spaghetti shirt Henry.

I think Henry may have took a step back and lost some weight recently. He was playing in the garage at the new house and refused to leave when I told him to get in the van, so I shut the door. This literally scared the shit out of him. He panicked and ran out of the garage when the door started coming down. He stunk when I put him in the car. Maybe it was already there. Who knows. I felt a little bad though. He was certainly frightened.
