He's on the loose

We recently converted Henry's crib to a big bed. He was capable of crawling out of his crib anyway, so we figured there wasn't much to lose. Well, the first night he upped his game and crawled out of bed about every 30 seconds. Kristin turned the crib around to block the opening by the wall and I ended up sitting in his room for awhile. He still crawled out and we spent much of the night throwing him back in his crib.

Things went pretty well the second night (probably because I was doing bedtime solo). He only crawled out three times before falling asleep. We were pretty happy and thought this was the end.

Then the third night came. Henry went to bed okay, but woke up around 3:30 a.m. He refused to stay in bed and around 5:00 a.m. we ended up just locking him in his room. He cried, of course, but finally did put himself back to sleep.  So that has pretty much been our sleeping as of late, not sleeping because Henry won't stay in his room OR barely sleeping because we are constantly listening for a toddler roaming the halls in the night.

This is supposedly a spider hat.

We need to work Cole's running form.

His pants are too big, so we jacked them up, rolled them and tucked in his shirt. Makes for quite the look.

He got paint on his good shorts. In retrospect, I realize I should have seen that coming.

Flexing their muscles.

Surprisingly, Henry is actually in his bed in this picture. He doesn't stay there long.

Cole is so proud of his daring jump from the dresser, I felt I had to post a video.

Things got weird with a little Blue's Clues dance party.

Weekend Update

We had some ups and downs this weekend. While Kristin slept off her hangover, the boys and I played some flag football in the yard and then took a scooter ride around the neighborhood. We later carved pumpkins. I did pretty well. Kristin carved Cole's pumpkin and it is awful. Just awful. I don't know what she was doing. On Sunday, my Dad and I did some house work. We accomplished little and screwed up several projects. Just not our day I guess. Later, Gregg took John and I out to Red Lobster for our birthdays. I have never been to Red Lobster before, so I was super excited. It was awesome and Gregg ordered extra shrimp at the end, and then we all hugged our waitress...still not sure why. I lost to Kristin in our first ever head to head match-up in Fantasy Football. Certainly a low point in my fantasy career, which has had many. Most importantly, the weekend ended with a Packer victory, so things could be worse.

Turkey Bowl prep

Henry decided he wanted to run.

Yep, I'm carrying two scooters on this lovely walk.

Bella invited herself to sample everyone's hot chocolates

Kristin's pumpkin was so ugly, Cole insisted on putting the cut out pieces back in.

Looks safe...enough. In all seriousness I thought I was going to have to catch my Dad as he fell off the roof. I think it would have ended badly.

Kristin got me cheesecake and cheese and crackers for a birthday treat. Two of my favorite things.

Pumpkin Patch

The boys had a field trip to the pumpkin patch today. Sadly, I was stuck at work so Kristin took the boys. It sounded like a rough start with Cole throwing a fit at home and refusing to get dressed, but they made it there and got their pumpkins.

With me gone, Kristin was left to take pictures. In my opinion, they are of much less quality then when I attend outings and take pictures. She rarely gets pictures where you can actually see the boys faces. It appears there is another thing Kristin is lousy at (like potty training). Since I always rip on Kristin, I will take this opportunity to mention that she has really stepped up her homemaking game. I often rip on her for her lack of skills in this area. Seriously, I tell everyone and constantly talk about her bad cooking and housekeeping at work. Of late, the boys and I have been enjoying nice dinners and prepared lunches. I haven't had to turn a pair of undies inside out in weeks (just kidding, I never had to do that). Her attitude still needs a little work, but overall, nice job Kristin! We love you!

Anyway, here are the pics...

I'm told Henry said, "I want the pink one!" but I choose not to believe it

Henry spotted this opportunity a mile away - stuffed himself inside a ticket booth and then giggled and held the door closed so Kristin couldn't get him out. That boy is a handful.

Florida

We are back from our family vacation to Florida. It was a lot of fun. We had a boat day, went to some bars and restaurants, visited the Seashell Factory and Nature Park, the Imaginarium, and spent a day at the Cape Coral Beach. We also saw some Florida Aunts and Uncles and there was, of course, a ton of swimming. My two favorite moments:  1) Kristin and I went to dinner and a movie, which was a nice break from the kids and 2) I got to go to a bar to watch the Packer game ALL BY MYSELF. I drank some (i.e. lots of) beers and sucked down a pound of wings. It was awesome.

As I know everyone loves to look at other people's family vacation photos, below are plenty to enjoy (obviously read with sarcasm).

Off we go...

Cole did pretty well handling a suitcase. It was actually very helpful. We had a lot of bags.

Fun at the house...

When we got sick of swimming in the big pool with them we put up the pool fence and they splashed in this on the patio

Sometimes he just sits on the potty. Has yet to actually use it.

Henry used the pool though. Feel free to play find the turd.

Henry fell off the bed once. I found him lying on the floor. He was all over the place.

Cole kindly organized the shoes. I guess it wasn't always "lots" of fun.

Henry has a treasure addiction. It started with seashells and went to plain old rocks, woodchips and garbage in general.  I guess I did hear seashells were a gateway treasure, so now we have a full blown hoarder.

Cole has some sleeping issues as well.

I'm on a boat...

Hot and tired Henry found the best spot to rest

Park visits...

Beach...

Seashell Factory and Nature Park...

Not so sure about the Pythons

Hen walked around for awhile with a hot dog. What a tub. It also took this place about 20 minutes to serve us 4 cold hot dogs. As my dad once told me (when I met him late and hungover someplace), "I'm not impressed."

Imaginarium...

We were all pretty amazed Cole touched the snake.

Home Sweet Home...

Praise the lord for Cole's computer. It can really occupy some time. I think we will be buying one for Henry soon.

It was nice to get away and spend a full week together as a family, but getting home is pretty awesome too.
