September 2021

September as always marks back to school, which of course also means getting out the letter board. Not sure how I (Nick) always gets stuck with that job.

We took a trip up to Tomahawk to stay with the Mooring's. Super fun trip. The duck race was a lot of fun and Henry won $65. Boys also like bars and pool, so maybe we can start doing that on the weekends.

We had some food experiments this month. Henry likes to bake and makes things every once in a while. We made some maple syrup candies and taffy. The maple syrup candies were okay, but not great. We used Kool Aid powder for the taffy and those were delicious. A little sticky though, and tough to handle.

I also like to make the boys and their friends eat gross stuff when they're over. Their friends refused, but Cole and Henry gave sardines a try. They were not enjoyed.

I don't remember what we made here. Looks messy though.

For a while Gus wore a hat and batting helmet constantly. Not sure why and luckily he did not get a strained neck. It was a little big. Sometimes he even threw on two hats and the batting helmet.

Wore them to the store

and even on the toilet

At least this hat option didn't take off

Matching shoes! Although, these were cheapies and Henry's broke right away so I returned mine. Still looked cool for a day.

Cole plays volleyball now. He started club volleyball right after the Elmbrook season. Club tryouts are insanely stressful, but we were happy that he ended up getting several offers. Also happy that he went with MVC since they practice closest to our house.

Guns and Roses! I thought it was awesome.

Cross Country crew below. Not sure if we told this story already...Cole did awesome his first race. Got like 14th out of over 100 kids (don't quote those numbers). He puked at the end though and ever since he has not tried quite as hard. He just didn't know any better that first race.

We installed a new mailbox.

Cole's flag football team. They thought it was cool to have high school kids for coaches.
