Football at BCHS, Museums and more

A while back we went to the Brookfield Farmer's Market with the Schilz family. Afterwards we decided to break into Central (it was unlocked) and roam the halls. Dustin refused so it was just Kristin, Amy and I and the kids. We also got in a football practice.

Henry liked to get a running start. He may have over done it a bit.

Still coming.

A few seconds later...

Finally. Contact.

And he knocks himself down.

Last week/weekend, both Grandmas were in FL so Auntie Jess helped us out with babysitting on Monday and Tuesday. She took the boys to the kids museum and Hen got dirty fixing cars.

Since the grandmas were gone and Jess couldn't cover everyday (selfishly she had to go work), I had to use vacation days to stay home with the kids. Hopefully the grandparents will be more considerate of their unpaid babysitting gig next time they plan their vacations (and obviously no more traveling together). Since I had off, I decided to plan a fun outing, so I took the kids to the Public Museum. Henry was a little crabby, but overall a pretty nice trip. Always nice when the Three D's can hang out.

Cole made a friend.

We also went to Stonefire Pizza Company over the weekend with the Schilz's. That was horrible. The place was super crowded and people suck. Plus it was really expensive. Not surprisingly, the kids loved it. They really liked playing the racing games, which wasn't bad since you could sit in the chair and avoid the surroundings.

Pretty good form for a first timer.

When we got home in the afternoon after the museum, I decided that I was so sick of Henry in diapers that I would give potty training a try. Well, once again, I was successful (after numerous failures by Kristin). I'll try to not rub it in, but clearly I am the better parent.

As if there are not enough pics within this post, below are a few more random ones.

I was surprised that Cole can carry Henry. He's stronger than he looks.

Playing a video game together. Now that Henry is potty trained, he can have his Kindle that was purchased a long time ago.

Yikes!!!

I just like the highlighters clipped to the shirt. Screams nerd.

Bampa's Bday, etc.

Last weekend we all pulled off a big surprise for Bampa. His birthday is next week but he will be in Florida so we planned an early surprise party with some surprise guests. Uncle Ben and GF Kim arrived from Philly and then we threw him a party at Champps. The boys had a lot of fun with Uncle B and they certainly always give Kim plenty of attention, especially Cole. There was constant hand holding and even some touching of her face.

On Sunday we had to put the pontoon in storage and then we made our annual trip to the Elegant Farmer. It was warm and sunny when we left our house and freezing and windy in the pumpkin patch! Grammie, Bampa and Kim and Ben met us there and we all enjoyed hot apple cider doughnuts (40 minute wait for those!).

No surprise these were the first three to get to the cupcakes.

Thanks to Morgan for watching the kids much of the night.

Happy birthday Bampa.

The boys had fun playing at the storage yard...lots of mud and rocks, perfect for a 3 and 4 year old.

We found a lot of nicely shaped little pumpkins at the Elegant Farmer on Sunday. Cole nicknamed his favorite pumpkin "Little Beauty."

Hand-me-downs

Before we talk hand-me-downs, I'll give an update on Cole's soccer career. I left work early on Monday to watch Cole play soccer. The first five minutes or so he did pretty well. He hustled and even scored a goal. The rest of the time he did not do much. He kinda just stood around, didn't play defense and then quit with five minutes left in the game because he had to go to the bathroom. I'm hoping he will start stepping up his game.

Surprisingly this picture was taken around noon the same day as the picture below of Kristin freezing at the soccer game.

It was cold at Cole's soccer game, so Kristin bundled up in Hen's jacket. I'm sure she won't embarrass the boys in the future.

Cole is also taking swim lessons. He has been telling me he is being brave.

So, we recently had a hand-me-down disaster. We got Cole a pair of new shoes, but didn't get Henry a pair as Cole's Puma's are still in great shape. I also got some new kicks I'm pretty excited about. Anyway, I opened the box and made a joke about getting the wrong size shoe and then Cole realized they were really for him. All was good until Henry started getting excited and digging in the box, asking about his new shoes. We lied, "Uh oh, they must have forgotten to pack yours." He made such a sad, disappointed face. I felt horrible. I don't know what we were thinking. We obviously should have discretely given Cole his new shoes. Kristin wants to just box up Cole's old shoes for Hen, but that seems like it is even more mean and totally obvious.

Hen was so disappointed, I'm thinking we may just have to skip hand-me-downs. That is really going to suck for him over the years.
