Holidays, oh, holidays

Since our last post we have celebrated St. Patrick's Day, Easter and April Fools' Day. I guess April Fools' is probably not really a holiday, but close enough.

For St. Patrick's Day, Cole had to make a leprechaun trap for school. At first I had planned to make one big enough to fit a kindergartner, but Kristin thought that may be a bit much. Then I let Cole draw out a trap and with a little tweaking we had a plan for a reasonably sized trap that he could take on the bus. We used pretty crappy scrap wood, so I was a little worried about slivers. In the end, I thought we made a pretty cool trap though.

Henry needed something to build, so he drew a guy he wanted to construct. It ended up looking like a Mine Craft guy, so that was cool. The boys used a lot of paint. Henry probably went through about $25 worth of paint just making some purplish-gray color.

The boys also enjoyed green toilet water, green pancakes, green milk and some Lucky Charm marshmallows. The pancakes were pretty gross and Henry couldn't even eat them. I think Cole did just out of excitement of them being green.

Not surprisingly Kristin went pretty crazy on Easter. She believes it is standard to give the boys each two baskets. Luckily a lot of the stuff are things we would have bought them anyway (undies, water bottle, jammies).

They also did an outside egg hunt with our neighbors the day before Easter. For Easter we hid another 25 eggs each around the house filled with candy and change. It took a long time and a lot of hints but Cole was pumped to find his second Easter basket hidden in the oven. And of course, per Cole, "This is the best Easter ever!"

The boys certainly do not understand April Fool's. They will just say something like "Mom, you're late for work. April Fool's!" Our attempt at an April Fools' was freezing their cereal. It did not go well as they didn't get it at first and then Cole cried. I guess he was afraid we didn't have more Lucky Charms.
