Father's Day 2015

I had a pretty good Father's Day weekend, although I didn't get to do everything I wanted. I sent Kristin a pretty extensive list last minute. Hopefully she and the boys can do better next year.

Father's Day Requests
  • BW3's
  • Red Lobster
  • Fishing
  • Pontoon boat trip
  • Water balloon fight
  • Movie
  • Gourmet popcorn
  • Sunglasses (I need new sunglasses)
  • Bloody Mary outing
  • Beer
  • Grill steaks on the Weber
Looking back I still think it's a pretty good list. I got lunch at Kopps instead of BW3's because the boys really wanted to try it after I told them how delicious their burgers taste. I did not get to go to Red Lobster. The boys and I went fishing twice at the Elm Grove pond. We also had a water balloon fight. We bought the balloon thing pictured below. Works awesome. So much quicker and easier than doing them one at a time. I'm a huge fan. Anyway, no movie, yes gourmet popcorn, no sunglasses, no bloody mary outing, of course beer and I did get to grill, but not steaks. Kristin got some chicken kabobs at Grasches that I grilled up. Not bad.

Henry will later lose almost everything that was in his tackle box.

If our neighbor had their kids running outside naked, we would certainly being calling her white trash.

I also got to go to the Rolling Stones concert. Thanks to my Mother for taking me and my Dad for not wanting to go.

This has been my dream ever since I went to my first concert at the Marcus Amphitheater - to one day go to a concert and sit right between my mother and my mother-in-law. I can't believe it actually happened.

Old Henry

Before we get to Henry's birthday, we have some pictures from the SJV Fest. The kids had fun, but we made the mistake of actually trying to hang out and visit friends (so selfish of us), which meant the kids got impatient, clingy and whiny. Not enjoyable.

This was obviously not their favorite; although, I think they are having more fun than the kid behind them.

They really loved the super slide.

Henry's now 4. We had some family and friends over to celebrate. We got Henry most of the snacks he wanted, we had a silly string battle, a pinata, and Henry got presents so he was a happy boy. Kristin had the bright idea of making a maze in the driveway. Luckily it really didn't take me that long.

Everyone figured out the maze and was able to make their way to the party. Except for Grandma Dorothy. She pushed her walker right over the imaginary walls.

My favorite part of the party was definitely the silly string battle. Lots of fun.

Doughnut cake as requested.

Finally the pinata just fell and the kids just ripped it apart.

I threw it to spread the candy around and make the kids (and Grandpa) expend a little effort for the candy.

I don't think any of the mothers appreciated my sparkler purchase for the party.

All in all the party was a success. I still can't believe the cost and how quick things add up. Even a little party at home is a lot of work. I think we will start looking at outside establishments for birthday parties.

We also took the kids to an art class at the Sharon Lynn Wilson Center. It was free and killed an hour of the day, so totally worth it. The kids got to make several instruments.

The weekend did not stop after making some art. We also went to Mayfair with the cousins to check out the Lego tour thingy. Some of the Lego monuments were very impressive.

And we played in the basement. Well, I cleaned and the boys played (and painted).

No news is good news

Nothing much to report, which I guess means all is well. Surprisingly, Kristin and I did not take very many photos over Memorial Day weekend. This rare occurrence may have occurred as result of being extremely hungover. Or the kids just aren't that interesting anymore.

Anyway, below are the little things that have been going on (as told by my phone - yep, I'm still not using our new camera):

Cole lost his second tooth

The brothers get close while I cut the grass.

We cleaned the patio.

We went to a park.

We got the pontoon in the water. I also got pulled over by the police. Apparently people cannot stand on the front of the boat while it is moving. My Dad's bad attitude almost got me a ticket, but luckily he stayed quiet and let Officer Tony Tuff Nuts talk and he ended up not citing me. I guess I should have nicer comments for the guy since he let me off without a ticket, but he had a pretty classic boat cop attitude.

Cole went to bed with Tickle Monster gloves on.

I built a new bean bag set, which has me also considering selling all my tools so I never do a project again. This would result in more time, more money and less frustration. Seems like an easy call.

The boys got matching Spider Man shirts.

I surprised Kristin with a new grill. I don't think she was a thrilled as I was.

We have a lot of Tootsie Rolls and Double Bubble from the Memorial Day parade. I wish they threw out better candy.

Cole got his first trophy

He told me he was happier about getting the orange Popsicle (he's with Charlotte Kroner)

I should have got better pics, but the boys had a blast playing in the neighbor's trenches (they are putting on a garage addition. I'm super jealous).

Hen picking out his tball equipment.

Cole started tball

We went exploring in the Wrayburn Boulevard

The boys got fanny packs, so now they can carry their own snacks; although, they go through them more quickly. I also have a bad feeling Hen may be 25 and still wearing a fanny pack full of snacks.
