We are still not settled into the house. There is a lot of work, organizing, cleaning, etc. that needs to be done. It would make sense to get this stuff done over the weekend, but we did a bunch of other stuff instead. Oh well. I'm hoping to be more responsible next weekend. We'll see if anything comes up that we'd prefer over chores. It doesn't take much and I know German Fest and the Brady Street Festival are next weekend.
On Saturday, we went to
Ravinia with the Hamilton's and Crissy, Maelin and Oliver. I'm a big fan of this place. There is plenty of open space for the kids to run around and play, which makes the parenting pretty easy, so you can just hang out. I also always like BYO places too. The kids had fun together. Cole and Charlie wrestled around, which reminded me of when I used to beat up Steve all the time. Henry made Steve's watch list. A couple times he grabbed Luella's hand and took her for walk away from everybody.
On Sunday we went to Maxwell Street Days in the morning and then Jackson Hansen's birthday party in the afternoon. Maxwell Street Days was a little disappointing. We didn't really find anything cool (at a reasonable price). I also discovered that Maxwell Street Days could serve as a great anti-smoking advertisement. This place smells like an ash tray (and it's an outdoor event, so that's saying something) and there are definitely some 60 going on 80 looking people.

Surprisingly, the wrestling around never led to tears. |

Romantic walk through the park |

Maxwell Street Days highlight was the pickle on a stick. They both gobbled them down. |

Happy 1st Birthday Jackson. |
Henry is officially out of his boot. He had a doctor's appointment Monday afternoon and the bone is fully healed. The blister still has a ways to go before it's better, but it will be nice to not have to deal with that boot anymore.

Fun while waiting for the doctor |
We are so used to Henry only needing one shoe these days we didn't pack the other one, even though we were anticipating that he would get his boot off. We were feeling like idiots until we saw another little boy limp out of the exam room - one shoe, one bare foot. So at least we weren't alone in our idiocy.
