Thanksgiving Fun

Before letting you all  know about our 2012 Thanksgiving festivities, I would like to tell the f@#!er that hit our minivan in a parking lot that he/she is an *@#hole and I hate you.

We went to the Stear's for Thanksgiving this year as my parents ditched us (again) and went to Florida. My sister, boyfriend Dan and Grandma Dorothy joined us though. The kids had fun....Cole attached himself to BF Dan and insisted that he eat his meal while sitting on Dan's lap. Luckily Dan was fine with that and having Cole on his lap didn't keep him from eating 3 plates of Thanksgiving dinner. Cole mostly ate dinner rolls and pie. At the end of the night Bampa Gregg played some songs on his guitar and the the boys had a dance party.

On Friday we had the Schelp boys and the High kids over for a play date. It was a LOT of kids (boys) in one place but everyone played nicely and lucky for us, Cole didn't mind sharing.

Saturday we ditched the kids and had some friends over for drinks. Sunday was the worst day of our lives and it still hurts to think about it. We have an out of town wedding this weekend and are hoping we remember the hangover pain and aren't tempted to tie one on again. In keeping with the Thanksgiving theme we were VERY thankful for Grammie Debbie on Sunday for keeping the boys longer than expected so we could recover and clean the house.

And finally, because I like to gross you out, below is a picture of Henry in the morning. Yes, that is a string of snot on his face and the world's largest snot ball on his shoulder. Yuck!

Once Upon a Time

Ahhh, life before kids...I often think back to this time, which seems so long ago. It was such a simpler time. No responsibilities. No worries. The real kick in the pants was at the time I didn't realize how easy life was - I thought getting up for work and grocery shopping was tough stuff. A hangover was my biggest problem and getting the laundry folded was considered a busy day.

Once upon a time...
  • I didn't have to schedule hanging out with friends a minimum two weeks in advance to schedule babysitters
  • I actually hung out with friends.
  • I had time.
  • I had money.
  • I had time for myself.
  • I wasn't nervous waking up to see if I will be delayed due to a messy bout of diarrhea.
  • I loved my dog (just kidding Bella, kinda).
  • I walked my dog (sorry Bella).
  • I bought new clothes for myself.
  • I shopped at stores other than Target and Buy Buy Baby.
  • I went to bars to watch football games and yelled at the refs and clapped (now I whisper shout when games happen during nap time).
  • I watched TV as loud as I wanted without worrying I would wake a cranky child
Obviously Cole and Henry are worth missing out on all of the above. Unless they turn out to be criminals, then I will regret it all.

Hopefully this will be Henry's last picture shirtless behind bars.

Bella is super gross. That is dog drool by the way.

Henry looks like a pot bellied, balding old man

Preschool for Reals

Cole's first day of preschool went well today. The morning did not start off great. For awhile he did not want to get dressed and go to school, but we finally got him ready and the drop off was rather uneventful. After we were done talking to his teacher and hanging up his backpack and coat, Cole was so involved in some toys he could hardly be bothered to say goodbye.

This is Cole not wanting to get dressed for school. He does love his jammies.

We did try to fix his bedhead - this was as good as it was getting

While Cole was at school, Henry, Kristin and I hit up Einstein's for coffee and bagels and Walmart for the required school supplies.  I always find that when I take off work we manage to spend a bunch of money. We'll have to look into not doing that anymore.

We arrived back at school a little early so we peeked in the windows. It was fun to watch Cole playing but he did bust Kristin once. She had to hide behind a stone pillar for a few minutes until he got distracted by something else.

Playing with Clay Matthews - we don't know names yet but this kid was wearing a Packer jersey so he is obviously cool

Although the drop off went well, the family lunch after school sucked. Cole was in quite the mood and screamed and cried the entire time. $30 for lunch and I would have preferred a kick in the nads. I was more than happy to get changed and head off to work. Good riddance kids.

Preschool

I took off work last Monday to go with Kristin and Cole to check out his potential future preschool. This makes me feel old. It probably doesn't help that I recently turned 33 and, as mentioned before, we now own a mini-van. Cole loved his school and joined right in all the activities like he had been attending for months. He cried when it was time to leave, so we will be sending in the paperwork and deposit and he will start on Wednesday, November 7th. I hope the drop off goes well. We have been talking about it a lot and reading Llama Llama Misses Mama (about a llama who goes to preschool) so hopefully he will be prepared. It may be a different story when Mom and Dad don't stick around. I don't know how brave Cole will be at school by himself...or how brave we will be leaving him behind. Updates to come of course!

All set for school

Mad we are going home and not staying at school

We just told him we were leaving soon
