Story Time

Story 1
Randomly at dinner Henry blurted "one call that's all." We don't really have TV randomly on and I doubt Gruber Law Offices advertises on kid shows, but somehow he heard the slogan. I consider that a win for Gruber. That is one catchy slogan.

Story 2
Circley, Henry's favorite turtle, is a one upper and I don't think I like him anymore. Anything we say, Henry always chimes in with some Circley story about him doing it better or faster or something. It's becoming quite annoying. I get it, Circley's awesome. Whatever.

Story 3
We all coincidentally wore silver jeans (as Cole calls them) on the same day. I know, crazy.

Story 4
I did not knock over an easel full of paint and glitter at preschool Family Fun night this year. Although, Dustin and Hen's old teacher brought it up of course. Jerks. Also, in this picture Henry is telling the class how awesome Circley is...

Story 5
As we all know kids are tiring. One day after already serving them a lunch, Henry was still hungry. I got super lazy and just let him eat a cold hot dog. I didn't want to make anything and then I thought I should, but then he seemed to enjoy the cold dog so I remained seated and just watched. I know I had a few cold hot dogs in my day, but this was out of pure laziness.

I guess he also could have just finished all those apple sticks.
Story 6
While having a discussion with the boys about how we can't buy everything they want, Henry goes "yep, you get what you need but you can't always get what you want." Kristin thinks Henry said this, but I actually think Cole did. Who knows and who knows when they started to listen to the Stones.

Memorable for all the wrong reasons

We had a very memorable trip to Florida; however, I don't know how much of it I actually care to remember.

We were all sick. Cole and Henry both had an ear infection. Cole's ear drum even perforated, so it was bleeding for a few days. The poor guy couldn't put his head underwater until the last couple days of the trip.

Kristin and I felt awful as well. Great Grandma and Grandpa were also not quite recovered from an illness and Normal Grandma had to go to urgent care for an ear infection. I tagged along since I still felt like crap. All I had was an upper respiratory infection, got some cough medicine and started to feel better later that day anyway, so that was a waste of $75.

We made it out to dinner even though no one felt great and some lady nicely offered to take a picture of us. She immediately juggled and dropped Debbie's iPhone. She gave it back and said something about being sorry for dropping the phone. Then Debbie noticed that screen was smashed.

When we were all finally feeling better we set out on the boat to go feed some tortoises. About half way into the trip we hit a wake from another boat. We got a bit airborne from the collision and my mom came down bad and hurt her back. We had to turn around and call an ambulance. We later found out that she fractured a vertebrae and the nurse even said she was lucky she wasn't paralyzed. Scary and very painful. She had surgery the next day and will now be in Florida for the next two to four weeks recovering.

Doesn't even feel necessary to mention the minor hiccups like our brand new, first time being used suitcase getting a nice dent in it. Or my decision not to pack my running shoes and to go running in other shoes, I wound up with a hurt foot limping my way through giant airports.

The highlights:  The boys had fun. They loved swimming. They enjoyed going to the Matlacha Community Park. Henry was so sad to leave. The night we got home he was saying how much more fun Florida is and that we should move there.

How would you like to sit next this guy?!!!

This is what you do on vacation when everyone is sick.

Skinny dipping which the boys now call "skin dipping" which sounds so dirty

Sad to be leaving the next day.

Laters FL, the next trip better be less painful.
