Livin' in the Burbs

We are officially living in the suburbs. At risk of stating the obvious, moving is a pain. It is especially a pain when you are in a rush. Before the big move we wanted to get as much done at the new house as possible. We painted most of the house, got new carpet, refinished the floors and did a bunch of other miscellaneous stuff. Sadly a kitchen and bathroom remodel didn't make the initial list.

Fireplace all clean.

Prepping for carpet

This was the worst floor. Lots of carpet adhesive.

Choosing stain sucks. Although, half of these appear to be the same color. We didn't think so at the time.

We narrowed it down a bit here and chose the one that is three in from the left. It is 4 parts Rosewood and 1 part Golden Brown (or something like that).

Oops. Forgot about the front hall closet floor. Unbelievable!

We also had to go on a door painting marathon.

Now some rando pics I've taken since our last post.

Hen just showed up in our room one morning looking like this.

The next morning did the same thing except with dress shoes. He thinks he's fucking hilarious.

Waiting for Great Grandma. They chose to rock camo pants and pajama tops that day.

Takin' a poo in Uncle B's Cubs cornhole set. Eat that Cubs.

Woke up this morning and Kristin informed me that the kids were supposed to dress like pirates for school.  I had to quick dig through boxes for old pants and cut the bottoms. Cole's legs where cold, so he went with pants underneath his pirate pants. I'm not sure why I chose their spider Halloween shirts, but seemed more pirate-like than anything else.

The move is now complete, well almost. We have maybe one more car load of crap at the old house. With all the stuff we have, I imagine we'll be settled in the new house in a year or two. There was so much to move, I think we scared away one of the movers. They initially showed up with 4 guys. It was Jose's first day as a mover. We all walked around the house assessing the situation. After the assessment, one of the movers saw Jose walking across the street. He just left. Didn't say a word. I'm not sure what he thought he would be doing as a mover, but I guess he thought something else because he clearly decided he didn't want to move things.

There will be some rummages in our future.

As I said, we packed in a rush, so we have boxes filled with random stuff and did things like this:  One lamp shade in a box. This may be our worst packed box. Why does the bottom quarter of this lamp shade even need to be in a box? I don't know.

Move scheduled and other updates

The house work continues. Actually, it is being sped up significantly as we decided to rent out our house. Our prospective tenants would like to be in by June 1st, so we have now put ourselves into a very tight time frame.

I'm happy to say, the Grandpa's came in huge with the riding lawn mower...it was a gift from Gregg and JB got it tuned up. I am also happy that cutting the grass did not take as long as I thought it would. I've been very worried about that. In addition to this huge front yard, we also have a pretty big side yard. However, I got it all cut in a little over an hour.

After the lawn mower there was also an attempt to repair a hole in the water tank. I won't go into the details, but below is a picture of the results. We are blaming my Grandpa Ebert since he came up with repair idea a long time ago. Don't worry though, Henry was very insistent that he pay for it. After hearing about it, he went right to his piggy bank, grabbed a quarter and gave it to Kristin. Sadly, the cost of a new tank was more along the lines of 2,800 quarters but it was sweet of Henry to help out with a portion of that cost.

The boys are becoming quite the little mimics nowadays. At times this is funny. The other day, Henry put Cole's pillows back in his bed to "fix it." I told him good job and he just walked by and quietly said, "Easy peasy." Other times it is not quite as amusing, like when Henry started shouting "Fuck" super loud at the mall. Kristin better start watching her mouth.

For the record, Kristin will have to shut her mouth about Mother's Day, at least for awhile. After years of complaining about the boys not doing anything, I finally planned some stuff, bought a couple cards and got a babysitter for a night out, even though it is not my responsibility. I have my own mother to worry about.

Painting bird houses for Mom.

I wish I could just nap like that.

There has been a debate about putting baskets on the boys big boy bikes. I am opposed as only girls have baskets on their bikes. Cole did not help my cause by using the basket on this trike. Albeit, it is in back, so really it is more like a trailer (and that is, of course, okay). Kristin thinks they will have so much fun with the baskets; carrying around treasures and drinks etc. I agree, but compare it to guys and purses. I think it would be convenient as hell to carry around a purse for my snacks and things, but I don't do it.

Don't be confused by Cole's outfit, it isn't Fourth of July - just a boy and his fav shorts/tee combo

Mark it in the history books. Cole made his first rock 'n roll sign this morning. So proud, although he has to put his fingers in place with the opposite hand.

Yay! Kristin made me lunch again. Zap! Eat! Yum! Seriously, who would buy this.
